Happy Birthday!
At 24 years old, Satellite Office is a mature company. Young enough to still mature properly, old enough to be able to show experience values. Anita Gödiker founded this company 24 years ago as a sole proprietor. Over the years, this has grown into a medium-sized company with currently eleven locations. Satellite Office developed into a brand that stands for elegance and a touch of luxury at the best addresses in the metropolises.
This was not planned! “I wanted to create a foundation for my life, that’s all – at least not starve,” says the founder with a twinkle in her eye. “I wanted to keep everything manageable. At the time, I didn’t have my sights set on developing a high-quality European company,” she continues. Quite the opposite! It was with mixed feelings that she signed her first ten-year lease 24 years ago – without first having bank financing. “Then when the banks initially didn’t want to provide the money, I was surprised. From today’s perspective, that was risky.” Through detours and a high level of personal commitment, she succeeded in obtaining the financing, and the banks have never regretted it. Today, Satellite Office is a solid, down-to-earth company that will survive a crisis like COVID-19.
24 years ago today, on 15.2. In 1997, the first customer moved into the Satellite Office at Checkpoint Charlie. A lawyer got involved with the young start-up. Gödiker had signed the contract with him at the Sale e Tabacchi restaurant in Kochstrasse, now Rudi-Dutschke-Strasse. What times!
Incidentally, the first customer had to bring some of his own office furniture, because Satellite Office’s franchisor at the time – which, by the way, has long since ceased to exist – only provided half of the office furniture.
