President from Latvia with large delegation and motorcycle police escort to visit Hamburg
Anita Gödiker, CEO Satellite Office, had the great honor to welcome the President of Latvia, Raimonds Véjonis with his wife Iveta Véjone as well as more than twenty delegation members in the rooms of the Latvian Honorary Consulate at Satellite Office in Hamburg. What an honor!
Dr. Sabine Sommerkamp-Homann, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia, invited the guests to the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Hamburg. The state visit from Latvia was first welcomed with a dinner hosted by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace in Berlin. As guests of honor at the traditional Matthiae meal with an entry in the Golden Book of the City of Hamburg, the high state guests continued their journey to the Hanseatic city. With a 25-member police motorcycle escort, the president, his wife and the delegation were escorted to the Honorary Consulate’s Satellite Office the next morning.
Under the direction of Honorary Consul Dr. Sabine Sommer-Hormann, everything was prepared meticulously and for months for the distinguished visitor from Riga. Nothing was left to chance – protocol dictates in detail how state receptions are to be arranged. Passport checks were carried out at the entrance to the Satellite Office building, for example, and it was specified exactly who would ride which elevator and who would be allowed to greet whom first. Among the guests in Hamburg were also Inga Kalna – Latvian opera singer State Opera, Prima Ballerina Anna Laudere as well as husband Edvin Revazov – both are first soloists of Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier.
For the team around Satellite Office Director Doris Keller, this was a challenging task, but one that was mastered superbly thanks to the good planning. Congratulations to Hamburg!
