Women’s power for fashion and masterpieces with heart and soul
In the centre of Berlin’s vibrant Neukölln district lies the Rita boutique in Palma – more than just a shop for handmade accessories. Here, exquisite designs are combined with social commitment to create a unique shopping experience.
At the beginning of May, SATELLITE OFFICE CEO Anita Gödiker was able to see for herself a wonderful symbiosis of exclusive jewellery and inclusive women’s empowerment.
Handmade masterpieces from all over the world
Graduate fashion designer Ann-Kathrin Carstensen founded her label RITA IN PALMA in 2012 with a special mission: to bring women from all over the world together to create beautiful accessories. In close collaboration with talented women from Turkey, Syria, Pakistan, Lebanon and Kosovo, unique pieces are created that make every look something special.
Whether elegant necklaces, sophisticated scarves or elaborate collars – the delicately hand-crocheted accessories from RITA IN PALMA are characterised by their attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials. Each piece is unique, made with a lot of passion, ultra-fine needles and the greatest craftsmanship with a great deal of dexterity and sensitivity. Each piece is unique!
The designs from RITA IN PALMA are not only beautiful to look at, but also emphasise the individual personality of every woman. Whether for an elegant dinner or a relaxed get-together with friends – the accessories match every style and skilfully set the tone.
No wonder that exclusive stores such as SPORTALM Kitzbühel and LODENFREY in Munich have long since discovered these designer pieces. Because these gorgeous pieces also find their place on valuable traditional dirndls and elaborate wedding dresses.
Integration through woman empowerment
RITA IN PALMA pursues a holistic approach that combines fashion with social commitment. The label works closely with migrant women and offers them the opportunity to develop their talents and work in a paid job. In this way, RITA IN PALMA makes an important contribution to integration and helps women to escape long-term unemployment.
The special commitment of RITA IN PALMA led to the founding of the non-profit association Meisterhand e.V. The association is dedicated to empowering Muslim women and offers them support in integrating into the German labour market.
Meisterhand e.V. supports women in realising their full potential by providing German language courses, vocational training and promoting entrepreneurial activities. Incidentally, without the slightest state subsidy – salaries, rent and office costs have to be generated solely through the sale of accessories.
RITA IN PALMA is a label that combines fashion with heart and soul. The handmade accessories are not only beautiful pieces of jewellery, but also an expression of active integration and social commitment. Anyone who values unique designs, high-quality materials and sustainable production will find exactly what they are looking for at RITA IN PALMA.
We think so: GREAT!
