Business, art and social issues in symbiosis
Zurich, September 16, 2016: It all started with the “Red Lady”. A work by the artist Lars Teichmann, who lives and works in Berlin. Teichmann is a household name in the contemporary international art world. Anita Gödiker, CEO of Satellite Office, appreciates modern art and is a follower of Teichmann. And she is also called “Red Lady” because of her striking red hair. In March of this year, Gödiker moved into exceptionally beautiful, historic premises in Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse and created a Business & Conference Center of exquisite class here. It is precisely here that the “Red Lady” Anita Gödiker and Teichmann’s work “Red Lady” now come together in a solo exhibition. Starting at the end of September, selected works of the young artist can be visited in the solo exhibition “Symbiosis” in the premises of the Satellite Office Business & Conference Center in Zurich. The exhibition is open to the public from September 30. At the same time as the exhibition at Satellite Office in Switzerland, the Lachenmann Art gallery in Constance is also exhibiting works by Lars Teichmann. Connected in content and complementary, however, each exhibition stands on its own.
About the art
After a youth spent with spray cans and graffiti, Lars Teichmann began classical studies in painting at the University of the Arts in Berlin at the age of twenty-one. He is preoccupied with the idea that craftsmanship is the basis for artistic creation. His works echo references to paintings of earlier eras, he finds inspiration in costume books, historical photographs, novels. On Teichmann’s canvas, the figures depicted are often larger than the viewer himself; they pause in stately poses, dance, and gaze facelessly at us.
About business, art and social issues
Anita Gödiker has been in business for over twenty years as an entrepreneur with Satellite Office. It has been concerned with political, cultural and social issues in our society for just as long. Says Gödiker, “To me, it’s all directly connected; our world is multi-layered.” Thus, Gödiker is not only committed to the advancement of women, but also to disadvantaged children in particular. For fifteen years, she has supported Innocence in Danger, an association that works to protect children and young people from sexual abuse. And here another circle closes: When Lars Teichmann heard about Anita Gödiker’s commitment to “Innocence in Danger”, the father of two spontaneously decided to donate the “Red Lady” to a good cause. Artist and gallery hand over the work to Anita Gödiker and waive their fees. Anita Gödiker: “This is a great gesture to Innocence in Danger in Switzerland. I was very happy to commit to personally doubling the donation amount.”
