Berlin, 25.4.2018. Satellite Office’s challenge for female company founders culminated yesterday: The winners of the “Women Startup Challenge” were announced at a festive award ceremony. During an eight-month period, over sixty innovative, creative start-up ideas were submitted. A nine-member jury under the patronage of Tita von Hardenberg reviewed the applications and awarded points in various categories such as unique selling proposition, product idea, price/performance, and liquidity and profitability planning. Prizes included jobs, a company address, meeting room use, a pitch to investors and a marketing package for the first year. The non-cash prizes, donated by Anita Gödiker, owner and managing director of Satellite Office, had a total value of over EUR 45,000.
The first winner of this year’s Women Startup Challenge 2017/2018 is: Dr. Maren Schinz with “mysugarcase” from Zürich
“mysugarcase” is a young startup that designs and produces bags tailored to living with diabetes. They are particularly characterized by the combination of quality, style and functionality. Daily diabetes management should be simplified, facilitated and at the same time beautified. Dr. Maren Schinz, inventor and CEO of mysugarcase: “We can’t change your diabetes, but we can change your life with diabetes.”
The second winners are: Karoline Decker and Dr. Kamilla Danilowicz-Gösele with “Finmarie” from Berlin
“Finmarie” is Germany’s first online investment platform by women for women. Finmarie works like a personal investment advisor, helping women grow their wealth in the short term or long term, depending on their life situation and goals. With Finmarie, women learn to handle their finances with confidence and make the right decisions for their wealth accumulation, regardless of age or professional situation.
The third winner is Kristin Sendler with “Coralbird” from Berlin
“Coralbird” is the first German “all-round platform” on sustainable travel. Book sustainable trips, buy fairly produced travel accessories and exchange ideas with like-minded people in a community. In addition, the Coralbird webpage is also programmed to be accessible for people with disabilities, for example, via a screen reader. After all, Coralbird sets goals such as equality and inclusion from the 2030 Agenda not only for its suppliers, but also for itself. Offers are examined and marked for suitability for people with disabilities.
About the Women Startup Challenge by Satellite Office (WSC)
The WSC was launched in August 2017. With the WSC, Satellite Office is looking for female founders who have recently founded or want to found their startup. Applicants from Germany and Switzerland were admitted. A business plan served as the basis for the application. Over 60 ideas were submitted. The competition will enter the next round in May 2018.
